Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Vikings and Golday: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Golday tumbling to the Vikings in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Nwankpa has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jermod McCoy at the 27th overall pick is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick49 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in Round 3, Pick 18 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday at No. 92 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97 Rnd3 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 97th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at pick No. 161 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein in slot 194 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jeff Caldwell at pick 234. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
They jumped the gun on Trey Zuhn III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
