Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Vikings let Price fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Vikings were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

Getting Price where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in the Round 1 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick49 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A tidy bit of business in pick 49, where Dillon Thieneman graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jake Slaughter in the 59th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at Round 3, Pick 18 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in the 97th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick106 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
A want over a need in No. 106: Harold Perkins Jr. adds a linebacker while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick161 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
No edge and no loss on Xavier Nwankpa in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 165 with a little surplus value in Jermaine Mathews Jr.. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick194 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 194 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Riley Mahlman at the 234th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Hall at Round 7, Pick 24 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
