The needs board said one thing and the Vikings did another, using No. 49 on Sonny Styles while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots waited. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Reaching for Benny left real value on the table behind him. However the rest shakes out, Wheatley at that price is a win they earned.

Job largely done: safety settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
