Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB+
The Bengals let Rivers fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Chandler Rivers tumbling to the Bengals in the 112th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
With tight end, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Styles left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
They took Kamari Ramsey at par in pick No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick49
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Dillon Thieneman while clear needs at tight end, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick72
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew in the 72nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Caden Curry
A tidy little value on Caden Curry in the 110th pick, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick112
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
They robbed the room for Chandler Rivers here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
By-the-book stuff, Thaddeus Dixon at slot 187 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena in Round 6, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick197
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick226
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman in No. 226 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
