HBli5929 DRAFTING FOR THEEagles
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Eagles: B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Eagles walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
R Mason Thomas
In pick 31 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
A straight-up fair deal on Germie Bernard at the 63rd pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67
Rnd3
Austin Barber
Nothing to complain about; Austin Barber went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick98
Rnd3
Justice Haynes
Justice Haynes in No. 98 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick131
Rnd4
Austin Romaine
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Austin Romaine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick138
Rnd4
Eric Rivers
By-the-book stuff, Eric Rivers at pick No. 138 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick151
Rnd5
Terrance Carter Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the 151st overall pick with a little surplus value in Terrance Carter Jr.. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163
Rnd5
Carson Beck
No edge and no loss on Carson Beck in Round 5, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick179
Rnd5
Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite at the 179th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick210
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner at pick 210 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
