Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Broncos, and a B- to prove it.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Broncos did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Reaching for Bell left real value on the table behind him. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Chris Bell
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Taurean York
A straight-up fair deal on Taurean York at the 60th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at pick No. 92 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at pick 102 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick128 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Michael Trigg. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
No edge and no loss on Duce Robinson in the 168th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen in slot 242 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick250 Rnd7 Smith Snowden
No drama and no debate, Smith Snowden went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 36. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick253 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
By-the-book stuff, Bear Alexander at Round 7, Pick 39 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick257 Rnd7 A'Marion Peterson
A'Marion Peterson in the 257th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
