More right than wrong for the Jaguars, and a B- to prove it. The Jaguars torched the value chart for Anto Saka, taking him 31 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The McNeil-Warren pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. With interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick57
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
A straight-up fair deal on Nyck Harbor at the 57th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
They went early on Austin Siereveld in the 81st pick, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90
Rnd3
Anto Saka
Anto Saka in No. 90 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick100
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Mikail Kamara adds an edge rusher while interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick125
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
The board had Emmanuel McNeil-Warren higher than pick No. 125, and the safety fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick166
Rnd5
Hollywood Smothers
Hollywood Smothers slid further than he should have, and pick 166 is lovely value for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
They liked Shamar Easter enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 232. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick244
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
A reach on Pat Coogan in pick 244; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
