Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B

Larceny in pick 225 lands the Bengals a B, Chambliss and all.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 10 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Trinidad Chambliss, the No. 182 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick52 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew slid further than he should have, and No. 52 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75 Rnd3 Colton Hood
A quiet steal in the 75th pick: Colton Hood for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick84 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A slide stopped in pick No. 84, with A'Mauri Washington worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They let Nicholas Singleton come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 10. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
They paid sticker price for Jacob Rodriguez in the 160th overall pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Good price on Jermaine Mathews Jr. in pick 190, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick197 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in slot 197 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225 Rnd7 Trinidad Chambliss
You do not let a quarterback like Trinidad Chambliss reach pick No. 225 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick235 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at pick 235 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
