Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
The Dolphins fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

Whoever sat across the table from the Dolphins should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

They will need Lance to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Wheatley value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Kaleb McGary deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
No edge and no loss on Jermod McCoy in the Round 1 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick47 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at pick No. 47 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley is a better player than pick 83 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick87 Rnd3 Bryce Lance
A big swing on Bryce Lance at Round 3, Pick 23, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
A wild overpay on J.C. Davis in No. 111, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick150 Rnd5 Nic Anderson
Nic Anderson at the 150th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick199 Rnd6 Luke Altmyer
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Altmyer at slot 199, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick227 Rnd7 TJ Metcalf
TJ Metcalf at the 227th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
