Powerful DRAFTING FOR THETexans

Draft Grade — Texans

Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Miller: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Christen Miller, the No. 36 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 59th pick.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They are betting Farooq proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In slot 28 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick59
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller in the 59th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
Good price on Josiah Trotter in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
A conviction pick on Jalon Kilgore at pick No. 106 that the board grades a round light. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick128
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
They paid a round early for Mike Washington Jr. in the 128th pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick165
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They went early on Oscar Delp in Round 5, Pick 27, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
They liked Jordan Hall enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 243. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jalil Farooq
A reach for Jalil Farooq in the 244th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
