Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureC
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Golday: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Golday tumbling to the 49ers in slot 95 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The cost of the Young reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Zion Young
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him.
Pick45 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at pick No. 45 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in the 73rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Taking Jake Golday in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A slide stopped in the 125th pick, with Michael Trigg worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick127 Rnd4 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in pick 127 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133 Rnd4 Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover at No. 133 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at slot 138 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
They took DeMonte Capehart at par in pick No. 139, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Domani Jackson
You do not let a cornerback like Domani Jackson reach No. 211 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
