Draft Profile: Bio
Jonah Monheim cut his teeth as a three-year starter at Moorpark High in California, where his dominance earned him PrepStar All-American and Cal-Hi Sports All-State honors before arriving at USC as a coveted four-star recruit. The 6'4", 302-pound lineman (born June 7, 2002) barely saw the field as a freshman in 2020, appearing in just one game, but quickly established himself as the backbone of the Trojans' offensive front. His rare versatility became evident as he amassed 46 career starts while toggling between four different positions and twice earning captain status from his teammates.

The 2022 campaign marked Monheim's true arrival when he anchored the offensive line for all 14 games, primarily at right tackle. His pass protection skills provided the clean pocket that helped Caleb Williams capture the Heisman Trophy while throwing for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns. Monheim's steady development continued in 2023 when he shifted to left tackle for 12 starts, elevating his game enough to secure AP All-Pac-12 Second Team recognition. For his final collegiate season in 2024, he accepted the challenge of moving to center, where he started all 12 games.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Motion-based technician who bursts from his stance with purpose – his first two steps often win battles before they truly begin.
  • Natural leverage fighter who consistently fires out low and maintains proper pad level throughout reps – wins the battle underneath regularly.
  • Shows impressive grip strength that belies his frame – once he locks those hands inside, defenders struggle to disengage cleanly.
  • Exceptional spatial navigator in second-level blocks – takes proper angles to seal linebackers and displays timing to reach moving targets.
  • Pass protection technique borders on artistic – fluid kickslide with loose hips allows him to mirror pass rushers with minimal wasted movement.
  • Possesses surprising anchor strength for his build – sinks hips and establishes firm base against bull rushers who outweigh him significantly.
  • Position-versatile lineman with 46 starts across four spots – rare breed who can speak the language of every position on the offensive front.
  • Command center in pre-snap phase – identifies fronts, communicates adjustments, and understands defensive tendencies like a ten-year veteran.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Arm length (30⅝") creates consistent leverage problems against pass rushers – can't always reach his aiming points cleanly.
  • Power-oriented tackles give him consistent trouble – lacks necessary mass and core strength to withstand true two-gap enforcers.
  • Stalemates rather than drives in run game – positions himself correctly but rarely creates lanes through physical domination.
  • Finesse-oriented player who relies more on positioning than physicality – tape shows few examples of imposing his will on defenders.
  • Recovery ability becomes compromised when initially beaten – lacks the explosive redirect to salvage reps against elite quickness.
Scouting Report: Summary
Monheim brings a mixed bag to the NFL level – displaying quality technical proficiency but facing genuine physical limitations that will impact his pro ceiling. His extensive cross-training at multiple positions provides valuable versatility, though his frame dimensions suggest a future exclusively inside at guard or center. When the pads crack, he shows natural feel in pass sets where his smooth lateral movement and hand placement allow him to mirror effectively, but his run blocking lags noticeably behind.

Most concerning on tape is Monheim's struggle to anchor against true power players – something that will only intensify against NFL defensive tackles. While his football acumen consistently puts him in proper position, he lacks the natural strength to sustain or drive once engaged. His functional mobility creates value in space-oriented concepts, particularly when climbing to linebackers or working in screen game situations where his ability to hit moving targets shines.

His path forward likely begins as a developmental backup with the technical foundation to contribute when called upon. Coordinators will need to provide strategic help against powerful nose tackles who threaten to overwhelm him at the point of attack. With continued physical development and strength training, Monheim could grow into a serviceable starter, though his limitations suggest a career trajectory more aligned with quality depth than cornerstone status – valuable in the right role but requiring scheme protection to maximize effectiveness.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
