Draft Profile: Bio
Daxton Hill was always considered to be a supreme athlete - recorded a 4.3 forty and a 43-plus inch vertical leap in high school and as a result, Hill became a five-star recruit who was ranked as the number one safety in Oklahoma, and 14th ranked player in the class of 2019.
Colleges such as Clemson, Oregon, Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma all had him in high demand - although in a bit of a surprise he chose Michigan.
As a freshman, he recorded 36 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 3 pass deflections, and 2 fumble recoveries and became a star on the defense and even received Academic All-Big Ten honors. He continued to dominate in 2020 putting up another 45 tackles and hasn't slowed down so far as a junior where he has added 48 tackles, two interceptions and 6 passes defended.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Crazy athletic talent - Hill ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, which ranked 14th overall at the combine. Hill’s 20-yard shuttle (4.06 seconds) and three-cone drill time (6.57 seconds) were the best at safety
  • Aware zone safety who is also adept in man coverage could happily move to corner if required
  • Gets an effective jam on the receiver and has loose enough hips to turn and run.
  • Long-armed press safety with size, athleticism, and ball skills.
  • Hill put up the top SPARQ rating in the 2019 class
  • Lean, athletic build with plenty of room for additional muscle mass.
  • Gives up his body in run support with a very good closing burst.
  • With his length, athleticism, and natural ball skills, he will be highly valued by press cover teams and could earn a top 50 pick.
  • Good instincts and anticipation reads and reacts with discipline. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
  • Plays the ball as if it was thrown for him, showing burst back to the ball as well as good timing for the jump ball.
  • A surprisingly good tackler who despite his corner like appearance can quite happily play in the box
  • Hill is a good open-field tackler, with burst and range, ball skills, and very good man coverage potential.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Needs to get stronger and is a little lean. Too easily lost in the trash.
  • Hasn't had as many college starts as you would like and so the tape is limited.
  • Hasn't quite been as dominating as his athletic potential would have hed you to believe - still very much unproven
Scouting Report: Summary
Hill has played all over the secondary for the Wolverines, and this versatility is always in demand in the NFL especially when paired with supreme athletic skills
The combine is where Hill will likely catapult himself into the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft where pro teams are going to be wowed by his sky-high potential. A possible star at the next level if not rushed into action too soon.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
