Draft Profile: Bio
Andrew Booth Jr. was the second-ranked CB in the 2019 class and a five star rated prospect from Georgia, so it came as a surprise when he decided against joining the Bulldogs and instead opted for Clemson.

His freshman season was a washout due to injury issues but in 2020 he first started appearing on Scout's radars as a player of note, where he logged 335 snaps and 30 tackles with two interceptions - which lead to an ACC DB of the week award for a supreme effort against Virginia.

In 2021 in six games (so far) Booth has logged 30 total tackles, including two for loss, and has looked better in coverage while displaying fewer mental lapses.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Plays the ball as if it was thrown for him, showing burst back to the ball as well as good timing for the jump ball.
  • Booth has long 32 â…› inch arms that allow him to play bigger than his size (6’0)
  • Physical sheds defenders and works off blocks. Good toughness with some recognition skills to fight through traffic and blow up screens.
  • Good agility and balance when shadowing his target. Competitive player.
  • Flashes some physicality as a hitter.
  • Has great times speed runs a 4.38 and is able to keep up even against the fasted of receivers. He back peddles with ease and is very quick twitchy - and can mirror cuts
  • Fits best in a zone system at the next level due to size and ability to close to the ball.
  • Physical downfield and matches up well with bigger receivers. Tough and fiery with very good competitiveness. High-effort player.
  • Has an NFL frame with strong hands, the ability to close quickly on underneath routes, and the size to tackle with a thump.
  • Booth is a solid tackler, going low when he has to and hangs on even when tackling bigger backs
  • Has potential as a player who can be put on an island and forgetting in coverage
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Inconsistent getting off of blocks. Can be a step slow to react when a quarterback comes back to his side of the field late in progression.
  • Doesn't currently possess great football intelligence and has a tendency to bite on receivers doublemoves
  • He's been able to get away with poor technique at Clemson making up for it with athletic ability - he won't be able to get away with this in the pros
  • Hasn't logged a lot of playing time so is very inexperienced - may have to sit early in his pro career
  • Has an injury history that may impact draft stock
Scouting Report: Summary
Booth projects as a playmaker at the cornerback position who will likely struggle early on in his NFL career due to limited college experience. He must improve his technique if he is going to compete at the next level where he won't survive on athleticism alone.

Booth is a highly ranked corner, with most scouts giving him a first-round grade (Todd McShay ranks him as the 22nd best player overall). We think that's and consider him more of a boom-bust prospect due to his undeveloped coverage skills and injury history. He'd be good value in the second round, but no higher.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
