The Steelers let Stockton fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Call it larceny. Gunner Stockton sat on the board until the 218th overall pick, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice.

Hobbs has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value.
Pick47 Rnd2 John Mateer
A reach for John Mateer in No. 47; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
A reach on Austin Siereveld in the 77th pick; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick78 Rnd3 LaNorris Sellers
Quietly one of the better values of the day, LaNorris Sellers at the 78th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Nice patience on Julian Neal, who had no business lasting to pick 99. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
By-the-book stuff, Jalon Kilgore at pick No. 117 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
They paid sticker price for Michael Trigg in slot 133, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
The board had cheaper options than Kyle Louis at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick213 Rnd6 Jahiem White
Jahiem White at the 213th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick214 Rnd6 Dane Key
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dane Key at pick 214 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick218 Rnd7 Gunner Stockton
A quarterback of that caliber at pick No. 218 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick229 Rnd7 Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs at No. 229 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
