Draft Grade — Jets
Overall

FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Jets to a C+. The war room fell hard for Da'Shawn Womack, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 41: 52 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
However the rest shakes out, Delane at that price is a win they earned. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
If Mansoor Delane and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 11 they get a green-dot type in the middle. Need was not the driver here.
Pick30
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
C.J. Fite
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on C.J. Fite. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 128, where Jalon Kilgore graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at Round 5, Pick 30 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick177
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis at the 177th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick192
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Earnest Greene III in the Round 6 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick200
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
They did well to land Le'Veon Moss in No. 200, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick202
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Nothing to complain about; Evan Stewart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210
Rnd6
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at the 210th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick216
Rnd7
Cam Calhoun
Cam Calhoun in slot 216 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick236
Rnd7
Barion Brown
A premium they did not need to pay, Barion Brown a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245
Rnd7
Daevin Hobbs
They took Daevin Hobbs at par in Round 7, Pick 30, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick254
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh in pick No. 254 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick256
Rnd7
Da'Shawn Womack
Da'Shawn Womack at pick No. 256 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
