Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Cooper Jr.. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Omar Cooper Jr., the No. 95 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 117. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Siereveld to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
John Mateer
A straight-up fair deal on John Mateer at pick No. 52, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick77
Rnd3
Eric Singleton Jr.
No edge and no loss on Eric Singleton Jr. in pick 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
A reach on Austin Siereveld in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick99
Rnd3
Sam Leavitt
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sam Leavitt at the 99th overall pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick117
Rnd4
Omar Cooper Jr.
They will replay Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 117 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick120
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Good price on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 120th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
A quiet steal in slot 133: Tacario Davis for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156
Rnd5
Justin Joly
Justin Joly at No. 156 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick159
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at pick 159 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick165
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in pick No. 165 is fair value, right on his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor in Round 5, Pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick213
Rnd6
Mark Fletcher Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mark Fletcher Jr. in the 213th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Nwokobia went about where he belonged in the 214th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick218
Rnd7
Drayk Bowen
They took Drayk Bowen at par in slot 218, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick229
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
They paid sticker price for Trey Zuhn III in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
