Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-. Some picks age like wine; Vincent Anthony Jr. at pick 146 will need to, sitting 34 spots clear of his grade.
However the rest shakes out, Moss at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Commanders indulged a want in Haulcy while a need in tight end, cornerback and other spots stayed open.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
Pick71
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end, cornerback and other spots to take A.J. Haulcy, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick146
Rnd5
Vincent Anthony Jr.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 146th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick188
Rnd6
Dane Key
Dane Key in pick No. 188 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
A reasonable price with a little left over, Rasheem Biles in pick 197. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick223
Rnd7
Miller Moss
They will replay Miller Moss at No. 223 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
