Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall D
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a D for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins clearly saw something nobody else did in Mikail Kamara, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Whatever Fernando Mendoza becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while interior defensive lineman and linebacker went begging. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Allar.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get their quarterback of the future, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick8 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line, reach and all.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
A slide stopped in pick No. 35, with Kenyon Sadiq worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick36 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane at No. 36 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick38 Rnd2 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
Quincy Rhodes Jr. in the 38th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick44 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They liked Elijah Sarratt enough to skip the value, taking him in the 44th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 A.J. Harris
A straight-up fair deal on A.J. Harris at slot 67, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick76 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Value said wait; Omar Cooper Jr. in Round 3, Pick 12 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mikail Kamara in No. 82, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick87 Rnd3 Julian Neal
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman and linebacker to take Julian Neal, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick112 Rnd4 Charles Jagusah
A conviction pick on Charles Jagusah at pick 112 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick152 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
They reached a country mile for Davison Igbinosun at the 152nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick198 Rnd6 Drew Allar
Somehow Drew Allar was still sitting there in pick No. 198, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 227 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
