Tiabana DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chiefs did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Nobody else had Trey Moore anywhere near slot 153. The Chiefs did, by 59 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
The Sadiq value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 14th pick they get a featured back at fair value.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at the 45th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick76
Rnd3
Zachariah Branch
A wild overpay on Zachariah Branch in Round 3, Pick 12, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114
Rnd4
Derrick Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Derrick Moore well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick153
Rnd5
Trey Moore
Trey Moore at No. 153 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick176
Rnd5
Rayshaun Benny
A real head-scratcher, Rayshaun Benny in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
