Grand theft in slot 45: the Chiefs steal Sadiq and grade out a C+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
The Sadiq pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If Trigg pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
The Chiefs paired the rookies with proven help, Jonathan Taylor leading the way.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In the 27th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
A tight end of that caliber at pick No. 45 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick56
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
They went early on A'Mauri Washington in No. 56, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Deontae Lawson for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick114
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
They reached into another round for Michael Trigg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131
Rnd4
Blake Miller
Blake Miller in pick 131 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick153
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
A conviction pick on Max Iheanachor at pick No. 153 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176
Rnd5
Drew Allar
They barely believed it either: Drew Allar still on the board at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
