Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B

FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Texans this weekend: B. The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Jordan Hall, taking him 72 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Adding David Bakhtiari by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Christen Miller
In No. 22 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They jumped the gun on Olaivavega Ioane, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick53
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
The board had Jake Slaughter higher than pick No. 53, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at slot 66 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jacob Rodriguez. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick237
Rnd7
Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen in slot 237 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall at Round 7, Pick 26 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
