JW121110 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chiefs did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Call it larceny. Kenyon Sadiq sat on the board until the Round 2 slot, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Mesidor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
LT Overton
In pick 14 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
You do not let a tight end like Kenyon Sadiq reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the 76th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick114
Rnd4
Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor at No. 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick153
Rnd5
Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
A real head-scratcher, Gracen Halton in pick No. 176 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
