Larceny in the Round 4 slot lands the 49ers a B-, Beck and all.

Somebody in No. 133 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Carson Beck, the No. 103 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Lomu has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

In the 25th pick they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at Round 2, Pick 25 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malachi Fields in the 89th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalon Kilgore at pick 125. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133 Rnd4 Carson Beck
Carson Beck at No. 133 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd4 Demond Claiborne
They did well to land Demond Claiborne in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172 Rnd5 Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills at slot 172 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
