The Chiefs let Abney II fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The Chiefs clearly saw something nobody else did in Gracen Halton, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. It is not that Abney II is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
