Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueA NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Chiefs let Concepcion fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while KC Concepcion, the No. 36 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Jeremiyah Love
Circle this one: Jeremiyah Love at pick 43 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44 Rnd2 Matayo Uiagalelei
The board fumbled Matayo Uiagalelei all the way to pick No. 44, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick74 Rnd3 KC Concepcion
KC Concepcion in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick112 Rnd4 Joe Royer
Somehow Joe Royer was still sitting there in the 112th pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick150 Rnd5 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 150 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick177 Rnd5 David Oke
David Oke at Round 5, Pick 38 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
