The Chiefs let Delane fall and pounced. Final grade: D-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chiefs took Max Klare at the 43rd overall pick, roughly 30 spots before his name belonged. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Delane at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
