Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueB NeedA- TradesB+ FutureA-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chiefs a B+.

The Michael Trigg selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 23 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Adding Joshua Palmer by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. On value alone, Iheanachor makes the weekend a net positive.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick 23 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45 Rnd2 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
A tidy little value on Quincy Rhodes Jr. in slot 45, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nicholas Singleton in the 76th pick, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick114 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
They talked themselves into Michael Trigg at Round 4, Pick 14, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick153 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DeMonte Capehart. The roster fit checks out.
Pick176 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Max Iheanachor at the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
