They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
The Abrams-Draine value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will answer for taking cornerback early while offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots went begging.
The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
J.J. McCarthy in pick No. 23 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Kris Abrams-Draine was still sitting there in pick 108, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A want over a need in No. 129: Jarvis Brownlee Jr. adds a cornerback while offensive lineman, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
Tommy Eichenberg slipping to Round 5, Pick 21 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Isaiah Davis in the 167th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Sione Vaki at the 177th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with JD Bertrand worth more than the price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Myles Harden at slot 232 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
