Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings left with their quarterback, and a F to match.

The Vikings torched the value chart for Garret Greenfield, taking him 44 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Landing Carter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 7
In the 3rd overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.8 · Pick 8 · Brock Bowers · TE · rank 6
In pick No. 8 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 41
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 92
The board had Caelen Carson higher than Round 4, Pick 7, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 103
Somehow DeWayne Carter was still sitting there in the 128th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Jacob Cowing · WR · rank 142
A tidy bit of business in slot 156, where Jacob Cowing graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 177
They liked Ty'Ron Hopper enough to skip the value, taking him in the 166th pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.1 · Pick 176 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 220
Garret Greenfield in Round 6, Pick 1 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 189
Jase McClellan in pick No. 187 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 236
Trevin Wallace at No. 230 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
