The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick No. 85 on James Williams a full 45 spots early.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Wright value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

They reached a country mile for Cooper Beebe at No. 50, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.

Malik Washington at pick No. 123 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 20 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A quiet steal in the 164th pick: Jaylen Wright for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
