They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If McCarthy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. However the rest shakes out, McClellan at that price is a win they earned.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a long-term answer under center, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javon Foster in No. 128 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javion Cohen in the 150th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Austin Stogner at par in the 190th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Jase McClellan all the way to pick No. 234, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
