The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Shedeur Sanders, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Moore falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
They let Derrick Harmon come to them and pounced at the 37th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Restrepo at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Quinshon Judkins at pick 73, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Ozzy Trapilo is a better player than the 107th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Moore still on the board at slot 144. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Jabbar Muhammad at No. 182 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Kiser at pick No. 214 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board had Kyle Monangai higher than the Round 6 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jordan Hancock at No. 224 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
