Nobody else had Brian Ugwu anywhere near the 246th pick. The Eagles did, by 45 spots, and that gap is the whole story. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Milton III pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in No. 33, with Kamren Kinchens worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Jermaine Burton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 57th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braelon Allen at the 81st overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for Cooper Beebe at pick No. 97 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Darius Robinson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Malik Washington in the 137th overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Ben Sinnott went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 21. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Joe Milton III in No. 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Zion Nelson at slot 178, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
