The Raiders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Berger pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The Raiders paired the rookies with proven help, Tyrann Mathieu leading the way. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Payton Wilson at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at the 73rd pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Christian Haynes in pick No. 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Darius Robinson at slot 112 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Joe Milton III in No. 150 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Jalen Berger in Round 6, Pick 15, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Jeremy Flax went about where he belonged in the 234th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
