The Raiders went off the board in a big way for Jimmy Horn Jr., 115 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

However the rest shakes out, Winston Jr. at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 4
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mason Graham in the 8th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R1.21 · Pick 21 · Will Johnson · CB · rank 7
In slot 21 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 13
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at No. 37 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 48
Aireontae Ersery slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and TreVeyon Henderson at Round 3, Pick 4 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Jonah Savaiinaea · OT · rank 47
Jonah Savaiinaea at pick 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.6 · Pick 107 · Will Howard · QB · rank 108
Will Howard in the 107th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 105
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cam Skattebo in the 113th pick. It fills a real need, too.
R5.5 · Pick 144 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 103
A safety of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.4 · Pick 182 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 178
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 6, Pick 4 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.36 · Pick 214 · Donovan Edwards · RB · rank 188
Donovan Edwards in No. 214 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.40 · Pick 218 · Jimmy Horn Jr. · WR · rank 333
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jimmy Horn Jr. in pick 218, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
