Somebody in the 210th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Johnny Dixon, the No. 190 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Jefferson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 50th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Matt Goncalves at the 120th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Kitan Oladapo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for AJ Barner in Round 5, Pick 35, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on Jordan Jefferson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Johnny Dixon in No. 210 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
