The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They will need Murphy to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They banked enough surplus on McCaffrey to cover a lot of smaller sins.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in No. 50. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Cooper Beebe at slot 53 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Devontez Walker at the 74th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Calen Bullock in Round 3, Pick 16 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Theo Johnson in pick No. 109; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on Isaac Guerendo in No. 120, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Grayson Murphy at the 161st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a wide receiver like Luke McCaffrey reach Round 5, Pick 36 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylan Ford in slot 210 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
