The tape said wait; the Texans did not. Isaiah Neyor went at slot 163, a good 44 picks before the board was ready. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Byron Murphy II at Round 2, Pick 26 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper Beebe at No. 90 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Javon Foster at slot 123, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Neyor. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trey Knox in the 176th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
