The Eagles checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Andru Phillips, the No. 102 name on the board, sitting there at Round 4, Pick 20 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Hopper proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
In No. 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 39
A quiet steal in the 53rd pick: Darius Robinson for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 55
Xavier Worthy is a better player than the 64th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
Christian Mahogany at No. 88 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 102
Andru Phillips in slot 120 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · James Williams · LB · rank 124
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Williams at pick No. 132. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 181
A wild overpay on Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 161, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 159
Tykee Smith slid further than he should have, and the 169th pick is lovely value for the safety. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
The board had cheaper options than Tip Reiman at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Nelson Ceaser · DL-EDGE · rank 166
Nelson Ceaser in Round 5, Pick 36 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 222
Gabe Hall at No. 220 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
