The rest of the league will want that one back. Chris Paul Jr. tumbling to the Raiders in Round 6, Pick 37 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Dellinger has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
This one needs a full-page explanation: JT Tuimoloau in pick 37, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Kaleb Johnson in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kyle McCord at the 107th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 142 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at the 179th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
You do not let a linebacker like Chris Paul Jr. reach No. 212 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jeffrey Bassa at pick 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They reached into another round for Garrett Dellinger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
