The trade table was where it all came apart. The Vikings shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Powers-Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, Rosengarten makes the weekend a net positive.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
In the 19th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
They jumped the gun on Jackson Powers-Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyrice Knight in pick No. 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jarrian Jones at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy little value on Luke McCaffrey in slot 145, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Keith Randolph Jr. in Round 5, Pick 21, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Braelon Allen at the 166th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Roger Rosengarten still on the board at slot 196. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in pick No. 227, with Jalen Green worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Sheridan Jones higher than the 235th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
