The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Trey Amos fell into pick No. 217. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
The board fumbled Travis Hunter all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Tate Ratledge at the 65th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Walter Nolen still on the board at pick 69. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Restrepo at Round 4, Pick 2 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Ashton Jeanty was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Dylan Fairchild here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in the 212th pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kurtis Rourke in No. 216 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Amos in slot 217 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
