The rest of the league had time to spare on Christian Jones; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 50 spots ahead at the Round 5 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Beebe falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a true top target, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Payton Wilson at No. 58 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Cooper Beebe was the payoff at slot 90. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on James Williams in pick 123, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cam Hart at the 126th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached into another round for Christian Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Jawhar Jordan at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
