Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Tate Ratledge, the No. 75 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Eagles clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, with Travis Hunter leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Steal is underselling it; Travis Hunter at the 33rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Walter Nolen at slot 78 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 30 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Xavier Restrepo still on the board at No. 129. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tate Ratledge at pick 162 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
