When a board-topper like Tyler Guyton slides to slot 76, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Rogers left real value on the table behind him. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Terrion Arnold went about where he belonged in the 20th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Byron Murphy II at No. 55. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Tyler Guyton all the way to the 76th pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in pick 112, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 121, where Max Melton graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Ainias Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Justin Rogers in Round 5, Pick 13, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Braelon Allen in slot 150 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Josh Proctor in No. 190, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Matthew Jones in Round 7, Pick 13 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Nathaniel Watson in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
