You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at No. 216 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will need Fleming to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They will replay Omarion Hampton at the 33rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Dylan Fairchild, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 3. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Jack Sawyer here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to the 103rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Shilo Sanders in the 212th pick, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Ollie Gordon II at slot 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Julian Fleming at No. 218 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
