Start where it matters. The Vikings took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jackson.
Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bo Nix. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Michael Hall Jr. at par in slot 84, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Dominick Puni at No. 108 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in pick 135, where Khyree Jackson graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Batty at pick No. 165 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Justin Walley was the payoff at the 179th pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
BJ Mayes at Round 7, Pick 10 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
