When a board-topper like J.J. McCarthy slides to No. 70, you do not overthink it, and the Cardinals did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Cooper left real value on the table behind him.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick 21 they get the heartbeat of the defense, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, T.J. Tampa went about where he belonged in pick No. 34. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They read the board right and Jonathon Brooks was the payoff at the 66th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow J.J. McCarthy was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Braelon Allen slipping to slot 85 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
