The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The final tally is a middling C+.
They will need Okie-Anoma to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. On value alone, Pritchett makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
So much rides on J.J. McCarthy that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Blake Fisher at pick 108 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Dylan Laube at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in the 157th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Nehemiah Pritchett at the 167th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A real head-scratcher, Drake Nugent in pick No. 188 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Jaylan Ford in slot 199, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Myles Harden at Round 7, Pick 12 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick 243 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
